  Notes	Commentary: DWD Edward C. Darwin was born 13 November 1868 in Flynn's Lick, Jackson Co., TN, where he is listed, age 1, along with his parents on the 1870 TN census. As noted in Section 5.139, Edward moved with the family to Fannin Co., TX, in 1876 and then in 1884 to Polk Co., AR, where I presume that he met and married Sarah Catherine Garner on 18 Nov. 1884. They are listed with their first four children on the 1900 census in Ozark Twp, Polk Co., AR, and I note that their second son is shown as Leonidas, though his name is shortened to Leon Darwin on all records kept by the family. By 1930, the census shows Edward and Sarah living in Hempstead Co., AR, with their youngest son, Charles E. Darwin, now aged 18, and the three grandchildren of their eldest daughter, Ollie, who had died two years previously on 30 Sep. 1928 leaving her children orphans. Edward C. Darwin himself died the following year on 3 Oct. 1931 in Hempstead Co., AR, leaving his wife Sarah as head of household. References: William G. Darwin Dorothy I.
