8 April 1799, York County Deed Book E, page 379:
For the sum of $295, John Darwin purchased from a William Dula (of Wilkes County, North Carolina) "a negro girl, Luce;" an Isom Gilham and Jeptha Harrington (brother of James Darwin's son George Cowan Darwin's wife Delilah, and himself later a son-in-law of John Darwin, when he married his daughter Nancy Darwin in 1800) were witnesses named in the Deed. |
